My name’s Mira El Amir, and I’m from Jakarta. I’m an intuitive artist living in Karangasem, Bali. I’ve always wanted to become an artist since I was a kid. But I started painting a few years ago. It was after I lost my first child. Afterward, I miscarried my second child. I was devastated by these losses. I found a way to ease my pain away through painting. In a way, the painting activity has allowed me to share stories. When painting, I feel like I’m in my safest zone, where I can be myself. This is something that I can’t share verbally. So, artmaking has helped my life significantly.
